Hardware & Fittings » Tri-Clamp / Tri-Clover Fittings

Tri-clamp, Tri-clover or Sanitary fittings can be a little confusing due to all the different names that they are referred to as, but know that these are all the same thing in the world of beer (as well as dairy and pharma)!

These sanitary fittings are what is used by essentially all commercial breweries, and now due to their availability, many homebrewers are beginning to use these tri-clamp fittings as well.

Tri-clamp fittings have a number of advantages over your typical threaded or ball valve fittings;  They quickly connect together with a silicone gasket and Tri-Clamp.  Without any nooks or crevices in these fittings (like many NPT threaded, or ball valve fittings) there is virtually no place for bacteria to hide and potentially infect your beer.  And since these fittings connect and disconnect so easily it makes cleaning them a breeze and ensures a sanitary surface every time you brew!

All of our Tri-Clamp / Sanitary fittings are made of high quality 304 Brewer's Grade Stainless Steel (or higher).

Tri-Clamp Elbows or Sanitary Fitting Elbows come in both a 45º and 90º bend.  Our Tri Clamp elbows are made of 304 Stainless Steel.
Each end of the elbow has a ferrule which requires a tri-clamp and gasket to secure to another sanitary tri clamp fitting of the same size.

We've just started adding tri-clover / tri-clamp products to our product offerings. If there is a particular product that you need, but don't see listed, feel free to contact us.

What is a Ferrule?

A Ferrule is a ring or cap, typically a metal one, that strengthens the end of a handle, stick, or tube and prevents it from splitting or wearing.  In our case, a ferrule is nothing more the the end of these sanitary pipe fittings that is flared out and shaped to hold a gasket.  It will be clamped against another tri-clamp fitting of the same size with a gasket in-between to form a sanitary connection.
