Brass Male 45 Degree Flared Plug - MFL

This brass MFL plug caps off an unused female 45 degree flared connection. It threads directly into a female flare swivel nut, so you don't have to cut a line, pull a fitting, or leave an open port on your system. If you've got a spare gas line hanging off a regulator or distributor, a shutoff valve with a female flare end, or a swivel nut on a tailpiece you've disconnected, this is the part that closes it off.

It's the same 45 degree SAE flare standard used throughout draft beer, CO2, and nitrogen systems, so it seals against the same flare face your existing fittings do. The 1/4" size is the one most kegerator and draft system owners will need. That's the standard MFL size on CO2 regulator outputs, gas line assemblies, and most manifolds. The 3/8" and 1/2" sizes cover larger gas and beverage tubing runs found in commercial installs.

Use a Flare Washer

As with any flared fitting, we recommend placing a flared tailpiece washer between the two flare faces. Brass-on-brass flare connections will seal on their own when both faces are clean and undamaged, but a washer takes up minor imperfections and helps prevent the slow, hard-to-find leaks that drain a CO2 tank over a few days.

Available Sizes

Select the size you need from the drop-down menu. Size refers to the nominal tubing size the flare is designed for, not the thread diameter.

• 1/4" MFL - 7/16"-20 thread. Standard for CO2 regulators, gas lines, and manifolds.
• 3/8" MFL - 5/8"-18 thread.
• 1/2" MFL - 3/4"-16 thread.

If you're not sure which size you have, measure the outside diameter of the female swivel nut's threads. A 1/4" flare nut measures roughly 7/16" across the threads; 3/8" flare nuts measure about 5/8". And if you need to cap a male flare fitting instead, you'll want a female flared cap rather than this plug.
