Perlick 500 Series vs. 600 Series Faucets: What's the Difference?

Perlick has produced several generations of forward-sealing beer faucets over the years, and identifying the correct model can sometimes be confusing. The 500 Series and 600 Series faucets share many of the same design principles, but the model numbers, flow-control options, creamer features, and faucet markings changed as Perlick introduced newer generations. Whether you are trying to identify a faucet on an older kegerator, looking for replacement parts, or deciding which Perlick faucet to purchase, this guide will help you determine which model you have.

Quick Visual Identification: 500 Series vs. 600 Series

One of the easiest ways to distinguish an older Perlick 500 Series faucet from a newer 600 Series faucet is to look at the Perlick "P" logo on the front of the faucet.

500 Series

Look for the etched/script-style "P"
The older Perlick 500 Series faucets, including the 525, 545 and 575, are commonly identified by the traditional script-style Perlick "P."

600 Series

Look for the stamped/modern "P"
The newer Perlick 600 Series faucets use the updated faucet body and stamped modern-style Perlick "P."

Tip: The "P" logo is one of the easiest visual clues when trying to determine whether you have an older 500 Series faucet or a newer 600 Series faucet.

Perlick 500 Series Faucets

The Perlick 500 Series is an older generation of Perlick forward-sealing faucets. These faucets became popular because their forward-sealing design helped keep beer from contacting the air inside the faucet body when the faucet was not being used.

The standard 500 Series faucet is the 525. Perlick also produced a specialized flow-control version known as the 545, as well as the 575 push-back creamer faucet.

Model Flow Control Push-Back Creamer Description
525 ? ? Standard 500 Series forward-sealing faucet
545 ? ? 500 Series forward-sealing faucet with adjustable flow control
575 ? ? 500 Series forward-sealing faucet with push-back creamer

If you have an older Perlick 500 Series faucet and need to replace an O-ring, bearing cup, lever, bonnet, gasket, or other internal component, see our Perlick 525 & 575 Series Replacement Parts .

Perlick 525 — Standard 500 Series Faucet

The 525 is the classic Perlick 500 Series forward-sealing faucet. It does not have flow control or a push-back creamer.

If your faucet has the older body style and the etched/script-style Perlick "P," there is a good chance you have a 525 or one of its specialized 500 Series variants.

Perlick 545 — 500 Series Flow-Control Faucet

If you are looking for a Perlick faucet that has the classic 500 Series appearance, including the older script-style Perlick "P", but also has a flow-control adjustment, the model to look for is the Perlick 545.

The 545 was the older-style Perlick flow-control faucet. A flow-control mechanism built into the faucet allows the operator to increase or decrease resistance at the faucet, making it possible to slow the pour without changing the beer line or regulator pressure.

The 545 is particularly useful when dispensing highly carbonated beers, difficult-to-pour beverages, sampler glasses, growlers, or systems where beer-line length needs to be kept relatively short.

Important: The 545 has flow control but does not have a push-back creamer.

The 545 is an older/discontinued faucet design. The newer Perlick 650SS replaced the older 545SS and 545PC flow-control models.

Perlick 575 — 500 Series Push-Back Creamer

The 575 is the 500 Series faucet with the push-back creamer feature.

Unlike the 545, the 575 does not use a flow-control mechanism. Instead, pushing the handle backward activates the creamer function, which creates additional turbulence and produces a creamier head.

Replacement components for the 575 can be found on our Perlick 525 & 575 Series Replacement Parts page.

Perlick 600 Series Faucets

Perlick eventually moved to its newer 600 Series forward-sealing faucet design. The 600 Series continued Perlick's forward-sealing technology while introducing a redesigned faucet body and newer flow-control and creamer configurations.

The primary 600 Series beer faucet models are the 630, 650, 680, and 690.

630SS — Standard 600 Series Faucet

The 630SS is the standard stainless-steel 600 Series forward-sealing faucet. It does not have flow control and does not have the push-back creamer feature.

650SS — 600 Series Flow-Control Faucet

The 650SS is the 600 Series flow-control faucet. It uses Perlick's newer forward-sealing design and incorporates a built-in flow-control mechanism.

The flow control allows the operator to fine-tune the pour directly at the faucet. This can be particularly useful for hard-to-pour beers, highly carbonated beverages, sampler pours, growlers, or situations where reducing the flow helps minimize foam.

Unlike the 690SS, the 650SS does not have a push-back creamer.

The 650SS replaced the older 545SS and 545PC flow-control models.

680SS — 600 Series Push-Back Creamer

The 680SS adds Perlick's push-back creamer feature to the standard forward-sealing faucet.

The faucet can be pulled forward for a normal beer pour. Pushing the handle backward activates the creamer mechanism, creating additional turbulence and producing a creamier head.

The 680SS does not have the adjustable flow-control mechanism found on the 650SS.

For available 600 Series replacement components, see our Perlick 630/650 Faucet Replacement Parts .

690SS — Flow Control + Push-Back Creamer

The 690SS combines both specialized features. It has the adjustable flow-control mechanism of the 650SS plus the push-back creamer feature of the 680SS.

This makes the 690SS the most feature-rich faucet in the 600 Series. The operator can adjust the flow rate during a normal pour and can also push the handle backward to activate the creamer function.
